Sat 17 Dec - OF Gods and Men

‘Of Gods And Men’ is a difficult watch, but one you won’t forget in a hurry. This French film directed by Xavier Beavois, builds to a powerful and poignant finale; featuring the best dinner sequence ever set inside an Algerian monastery. Expectations for the film were high, with it winning the coveted Grand Prix (Runner up) at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

It tells the true story of a group of Monks and Priests who live inside a monastery in Algeria. They were missionaries, residing there to give medical and religious assistance to the peasant community of Tibhirine. The issue is that it’s 1996 and the Algerian Civil War is in its midst, causing a massive amount of military presence, governmental decay, and worst of all; the fundamentalist Muslim terrorists - whose tactics and anarchism - place immense pressure on the Christians.

Just watch it
